We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for a Systems Engineer – Converged Billing & Charging within the Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Role DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Specialist Converged Billing and Charging, the Converged Billing and Charging Engineer shall provide technical expertise in Charging and Billing solutions systems planning, Product configuration, capacity management, architecture design and evolution, as well as articulating business proposals for development and implementation for all Charging & Billing Products & Services offered to Safaricom Ethiopia customers. Charging Solutions include, but not limited to Rating & Charging, Billing, Mediation, Voucher, Provisioning, Wholesale(Roaming & Interconnect PRM, Pinless, Invoicing, and Backup solutions.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical expertise in planning and design for Converged Rating & Charging Solution (CCS) and other systems in the docket, solutions or optimization of existing solutions in line with the IT strategy execution plan.
• Product development, configuration of new products and services and executing technical tests & providing support on UAT & Production to ensure quality product release.
• Drive implementation of Converged Rating & Charging Solution & other system solutions in the portfolio and integration to various network elements.
• Responsible for new installations and commissioning of systems in the docket within defined timelines ensuring high quality standards are met and solutions are operationally viable.
• Develop and maintain traffic model for various nodes within the domain and advice thereof.
• Operational Support, Administration & Maintenance of the CCS & other systems. ensuring issues are reported & resolved within agreed SLA’s
• Responsible for ensuring all systems in the portfolio are running n-1 release (latest stable release) through effective software release management plan and security patch vulnerability execution plan, Business Continuity plan (BCP) and adhere to any other company policy.
• Review of the Systems architecture, roadmaps and design from time to time to ensure efficient operations & and evolution especially towards Cloud & Micro services or applicable technologies.
• Review system changes and deployment with aim of minimizing negative impact of any change on commercial services and the network.
• Regular engagement & cooperation with other teams to ensure business requirements are captured clearly in the Functional Requirements Documents by the vendors.
• Regular vendor engagement in cooperation with other Teams to ensure timely resolution of issues raised.

Job Requirements

• BSc. Degree in Computer Science / Telecommunication Engineering/Electrical & Electronics engineering/ IT or related subject.
• At least 2 years’ experience a busy telecommunication/ IT environment or Software Engineering with good knowledge in Converged Rating & Charging.
• Domain experience in GSM is a must with a bias towards CCS, Mediation, Voucher Management, Provisioning, Roaming, Interconnect, Invoicing.
• Working knowledge in Unix systems and Databases – Oracle, MySQL, MariaDB
• Working knowledge Virtualized/cloud/cloud Native, CNF & VNF solutions.
• Deep understanding of 3GPP protocols and API interfaces (REST, SOAP).
• Excellent systems analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) – must be able to listen to customers, document requirements quickly & accurately, and review written materials for accuracy.
• Ability to drive initiatives without any formal authority in an ambiguous and startup environment
